We all know there are times when we feel like are are unstoppable with our health and fitness choices. We are in a positive cycle of one great decision after another. The great thing is that this is what good decisions can do to us. When we start to see the positive results from our good choices it helps us to feel motivated to continue in making positive choices. It is awesome to be found in this cycle.
On the other hand, there are times when our negative choices do just the same thing. We fall of the wagon in a sense. We feel frustrated with our lack of progress, we question if trying so hard is “really worth it,” and sometimes we come to the conclusion in our heads that nothing we do is going to change the way we look. Our giving up on trying leads to poor food choices, deciding we don’t want to work out, and on and on. These negative choices leave us feeling pretty crummy.
So, how does one get back on the wagon after you fall off? It is easier than you think. Set a goal. Decide that you are going to change a habit in a positive direction. Make it a measurable goal that will allow you to prove to yourself that you can change. Some examples of goals that can help you to do so are…
- Decide to drink 100 oz of water every day
- Set an exercise goal (number of days per week, miles logged, etc)
- Decide not to eat out for a week
- Cut out sugar for a period of time
- Determine to make dinner each night for a week
- Decide to eat a certain amount of servings of fruits and vegetables each day
- Choose to make your bed time a priority and stick to it
You can make anything into a measurable goal. Once you see your progress it will help to remind you just how capable you are. You can continue to work on your same goal, or add to it when you accomplish it. It will help you to feel better, and will get you back on track before you know it!
HOW did you know I needed this?? 😉 truly, you are a miracle worker. 🙂
