A triathlon is…”a multi-sport event involving the completion of three continuous and sequential endurance events.” Thank you Wikipedia, the most trusted source on the web right? 😉Â
My workout today was a triathlon…of sorts.
4 mile run
35 minute intervals on the elliptical
15 minutes on the stairs
That counts, right? I wanted to get in some good cardio, but I didn’t want to push it with my foot so, after 4 miles I decided I should mix it up. I kinda like to do my cardio in this way sometimes to keep me from mentally going crazy. As long as you’re busting it in what you’re doing you’ll be burning calories like crazy, and it may just help you get through what could be some boring cardio workouts!
Ever since I was little I have been a reader. I have so many memories that revolve around books and reading. When I was born I instantly became my older sister Lindsey’s, side kick and “student.” She taught me to read by the time I was three years old. I remember hundreds of trips to the library to check out stacks of books, and then there were the exciting occasions when we got to go to the bookstore to pick out a new book. I could never forget how my mom used to read to us every night before we went to bed. I can remember racing to get our pajamas on so we could be the one to sit closest to her on her big comfy bed.
Both my parents have always been big readers, and needless to say they have definitely passed that love on to me. I have been on such a reading kick lately, and summer trips are a great time to pick up a new book…so, I thought I’d share my favorite reads as of late.
The rest of the Uglies series is REALLY good! I just got done reading “The Forgotten Garden” by Kate Morton. It is a mystery book and VERY good. I just started her first book “The House at Riverton” good so far! The “Blue Blood” series by Melissa De La Cruz is pretty good and entertaining. Author Holly Black is amazing, she has a few books that are all similar, but not a series. That should keep you reading for the rest of the summer!
I’ll have to put those books on my list! Great work out today!
All of those books are so great! Another great book I read recently is “Wish You Well” by David Baldacci. It is such a great book!
I am all about changing up my cardio when I workout. I get really bored if I stay on the same machine too long. If I am short on time, i like to do 10 minute intervals on a variety of machines. It makes the time go by much quicker!
I love mixing up my cardio!
I’m almost finished with “A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius” by David Eggers. Good. Stuff.
Water for Elephants is a MUST read.
I’ve missed out on something! What’s going on with your foot? You are the work out queen and I love it! And I missed seeing you AGAIN this last weekend!
I loved the Hunger Games series. I like the last book mostly. It was a little depressing but I liked how it ended. That was the right way.
I’ve heard about The Help and would like to read that next. Thanks for all the good suggestions!
Thanks for the book shares. I am not the best reader (mostly because I’m usually in school and stuck reading for that) but since I am taking a semester off of school I have been wanting to read more novels.
Love the triathalon workout girl! You are awesome.
Read The Help and loved it!! The rest of the books I haven’t read but now are added to my summer reading list!
When I’m at the gym I HAVE to mix it up with the cardio machines. I enjoy my gym ADD though, it makes indoor cardio much more bearable!!!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Uglies Series. AMAZING.
and I did a triathlon workout today too! 45 mins elliptical, 2 mile run, 25 mins bike. You should be proud. 🙂
I know I’m late commenting, but reading is one of my favorite things to do! I’m reading water for elephants note and I love it! I bought the help but I’m making myself wait to read that one until we go to the beach next month. I am definitely going to check out your other suggestions! Thanks fort the ideas AND for the new circuit workouts! 🙂
I really needed some good book recommendations. I reread the Harry Potter series every summer but I need something new to take to the beach.
I agreed with those reads! The only one I haven’t read is the Guernsey one… I will have to give that one a try. Summertime always makes me want to read!
