Call them what you will. I call them classics.

There are two things that I would say are never out of season. Pumpkin flavored goodness, and the color black. Fight me on it if you want, but I will stand my ground. Pumpkin ALWAYS tastes/smells good, and black ALWAYS looks classic.
I was looking to whip up a tasty delight today, and so after sifting through my recipes I decided I wanted to mix and match and came up with this delightful recipe for Whole Wheat Healthy Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies.
This was a perfect opportunity to try out the new silicone oven mitt and potholder my mom gave me with my Easter package. They are AWESOME. They are dishwasher safe too, which is great because all my baking goods tend to get dirty from time to time.
They can also double as a fun toy for your kids…or yourself…the mitt looks like a monster of sorts.
In case you were wondering; yep, I bake in my gym clothes. I work in my gym clothes. I work out in my gym clothes. I run errands in my gym clothes. I sleep in my gym clothes. There are times in the week when I realize that I have gone from Monday to Friday without putting on jeans. Sad? Awesome? I don’t even know anymore. Remember that gym clothes = work clothes for me. I am a comfy type person, so I love it.  Also, remember my bondi band? I love it. It is seriously awesome for working out, or for those days where doing your hair just isn’t in the cards.
Guess what else??
This grandma hip just might be coming out of retirement. I had an AWESOME run yesterday. I’m definitely feeling it today, but the fact that I actually made it through a decent run without extreme pain makes me OH so happy. Keep your fingers crossed. I’m not signing up for any races just yet, but hopefully soon!
Ok, on to the recipe…
Whole Wheat Healthy Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients:
1 cup canned pumpkin
1 large egg
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup splenda (you could use agave or honey here)
1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
2 tsp vanilla
2 cups whole wheat flour
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
1 cup milk chocolate chips
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Mix together pumpkin, egg, sugar, splenda, applesauce, and vanilla. In a separate bowl combine dry ingredients. Combine dry ingredient with wet ingredients. Stir in chocolate chips. Spoon onto a greased baking sheet. Bake for ten minutes, or until the bottom is lightly browned. Let cool completely. Yum. Yum. Yum. This recipe makes 36 cookies. Here are the stats.

Do you have things that you would consider never go out of style? I would have to add not washing my hair being tan. I’m sure my list is probably longer this, but I’ll spare you 🙂 Do you live in your gym clothes? I do, and I think everyone I know is kinda used to it. It’s always fun to be all dressed normal. It throws people off.

  6. Jenn says:

LOVE pumpkin so these are getting made TONIGHT!

My tan in a bottle is never going out of style. Well, not until my naturally blotchy sun damaged white skin comes back in anyway……

I live in Lululemon pants and t-shirts or tech shirts. In the summer I move to Lulu shorts and tanks. I’m a fashion DIVA obviously!

  7. mmmm those cookies look delicious. I completely agree that black and pumpkin cookies never go out of style.

I would definitely live in my gym clothes if I could. I am so jealous.

Things that never go out of style for me being tan, episodes of friends, and peeps! Have a fabulous day!

  11. Julia says:

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! your run just wanted to make me do the biggest happy dance everrrr!! soo so so happy for you. and just needed you to know that you make me want to eat things I have never liked before…like pumpkin. maybe i will try these 🙂 have a fabulous night!

  12. I have those same pot holders!!! Whenever my nieces come over I chase them around and make monster noises – they love it!

Black is ALWAYS classic – ALWAYS. Things that never go out of style for me are black (obv), being healthy and fit, FRIENDS (best show ever), and oatmeal (seriously a million combinations could me made).

Pumpkin is the bomb year round. I am sad that our stores have been out of pumpkin for almost 2 months (deja vu of last year), so I’m hoarding my 4 measly cans away for the perfect recipe – and this may be it!

Love your bondi – looks adorable. When at school, I’m in dress clothes – other than that, I’m in Zumba or workout clothes. Love them!

  13. Mrs. JM says:

yes for pumpkin! my favorite. so flippin’ good. i live in my workout clothes too … reading the comments above i see a trend. maybe it’s a matter of “the company you keep” 🙂 … my kids always ask “where are we going?” or “who is coming over?” if i actually put clothes on. as for what will never go out of style (IMO), i’d have to say my chuck taylors. love ’em! i pretend tanning is old skool. it’s been years since i worried about my skin tone.

  14. pumpkin cookies? YES please!

So happy that your hip is getting better! 8:28 min miles? THAT ROCKS!
but i’m still super sad I missed you at spin. 🙁

  15. THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!! Girl, these cookies are TO DIE FOR and you look so gorgeous in your gym clothes and bondi band!! I AM SO HAPPY you got through the run without crazy pain and I am praying it continues to get better:) Your wafflini looks AMAZING…you are BRILLIANT!! Thank you for the cookies, the card and always listening to me…I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!

  16. I live in sweats/gym clothes. If I’m not at work, I’m st home or at the gym. The only bad part about it is when I do put my jeans on I realize, CRAP they are getting tighter 🙂 That can’t be a good thing!

  17. First off, awesome run girl!

I LOVE me anything pumpkin and during any season! My little girls do too.

I feel sort of guilty when my hubby comes home and I’m still in my workout clothes(I workout at home so its not technically “gym clothes” for me, but hey sometimes I can’t fit it in until later in the day! I do try to put on jeans or whatever at a reasonable time of day. But, if I worked in the gym I would never wear real clothes either! 🙂

  18. Thisisme says:

    I LOVE PUMPKIN!!!

This is totally weird for me to observe but our condo’s kitchen looks exactly like what’s behind you in your adorable oven mitt photo shoot!

I’m so jealous of your run. I wish I could get up there!!

  19. Stephanie says:

Smiling never goes out of style. I always like long hair even if it doesn’t look great on me. Cookies and cupcaithkes never go out of style either. 🙂

    GREAT RUN SPEEDY!!!!!
