One of the first things that I always do with my clients when they start up with me is set some goals. One of the goals that I give to EVERYONE is to drink 100 oz of water. Some of the reasons behind this goal are:
- Your body is made up of water, about 66 percent of it, in fact. So, it is important to keep your muscles, organs, and tissues properly hydrated.
- It detoxifies the body. Water is a great way to flush your system.
- Drinking water throughout the day helps to keep you full, which keeps people from snacking and grazing unnecessarily.
- It helps to regulate your body temperature. Sweating is one of those regulatory methods. If you are exercising a lot you are sweating a lot. You need that water!
- It helps to keep your metabolism going.
- It helps your organs to absorb nutrients more efficiently.
- It can even help to clear up your skin.
I know that drinking a lot of water can be difficult, and everyone has different methods that may help them get their 100 oz in. I have found that always having a water bottle with me helps a lot. I like the bigger bottles because I feel like it’s easier for me mentally to know I only need to drink 3 or 4 of them. When I am at home in AZ I have another method. The tally method…
I sometimes lose track of how much water I’ve drank if I am just drinking it out of a cup, so I get a plastic cup and a sharpie and keep tally. My mom’s fridge is super fancy and tells me how many ounces I’m filling my cup up with, so I usually just drink in 10’s and tally away. It helps! Some other tips that help me get all my water in is to try and get at least 50 oz in before lunch. That way I don’t feel like I’m drowning myself. I also drink most of my water during and after my workout, so I ALWAYS make sure to have water then. Make it a point to get your water in, and I PROMISE you’ll feel better!
I have an app that I keep track on, and if I go to long before tracking, it will make a loud water sound.
